
The SJGA will introduce the game of golf in a revolutionary concept to a selected private school’s elementary
and junior high students in San Diego County


The SJGA Board of Directors and Advisory Board have created a program that will make its debut in San Diego. This unique extension of Scholastic Junior Golf will afford the opportunity for each student to develop self-respect through the learning golf’s basic concepts of integrity, honesty, responsibility and caring for others. The major focus will be a classroom atmosphere combined with exciting practice facilities where the students will learn the fundamentals of golf. Academics, fun, consistent performance and self-confidence will be stressed from the beginning.
The SJGA will integrate its Board of Directors and Advisory Board – both educators and members of the business community to enrich this program. Interns will participate who are current high school players at San Diego’s top high schools. Participating SJGA sponsors – Callaway Golf and Fox 5 TV will actively become involved in this innovative program for students.
The selected school will showcase a series of events for students and parents for the San Diego Private School Community. The major event will be held at the legendary La Costa Resort & Spa during the Scholastic Junior Championships.
SJGA CEO, Steve Simons, will be discussing and formally presenting this exciting and unique program to directors and principals at exclusive San Diego private schools. The program is scheduled to be implemented in the 2011-12 school year.
